SLOW FASHION
In a world where we are driven by mindless consumption, we often over-consume clothing. Australians have topped the list of ‘clothes-buying’, which has resulted in excessive textile waste per person. It mostly comes from global conglomerates shoving ‘fast-fashion’ products in the face of hungry Australians who are constantly looking for a bargain. But fast fashion is exploiting our people, and destroying the planet. If you buy a shirt for $10, just imagine how much it would have been made for. The store/brand would have to include costs of production, rent, wages, marketing and shipping into their prices — so they operate on ultra slim profit margins. How do they make money? Volume. They have to sell and turnover tons of clothing in order to make profit. This is contributing to the mess we’re in.
Our mission is to make fashion more informative, accessible and affordable, bridging the gap between everyday wear and high-end luxury.
Quality is paramount for us — we only offer the highest quality, slow fashion products, where durability, style, and sustainable production takes centre stage.
spend more on less
The fashion industry has made significant strides in sustainability and the concept of circular fashion, raising awareness about reducing, recycling, and upcycling textile waste. However, many startups focus primarily on the end-of-life stage by upcycling textile waste into new products. While this is commendable, it’s essential to address earlier stages of the product lifecycle, such as raw materials, production, and consumption.
We encourage consumers to invest in fewer, higher-quality clothes that last longer, rather than opting for cheap, poor-quality, mass-produced items often made in factories with poor labor and QC practices. Peng aims to tackle these earlier stages of the supply chain, an area that many startups have overlooked until now.
